February WINTER FEST
Each year the Sundre Museum celebrates our local artists and artisans over a two day period during the family day long weekend. We have had much success with the ice sculptures, youth activities, an art show and sale, docent tours, educational programs and our winter survival competition!

February AGM
Held annually on the 3rd Tuesday in October. Come see what we've been up to, join our team, volunteer and help us "Celebrate the way we were". Please Note: Only members in good standing can join the board and executive so please don't forget to renew your membership with us. We look forward to extending our welcome and call the museum anytime...you don't have to wait for the AGM to join our fantastic group of volunteers.
May 18th - International Museum Day
Each year we celebrate museums! The objective of International Museum Day (IMD) is to raise awareness about the fact that, “Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.” Organized on May 18th each year or around this date. The events and activities are planned to celebrate International Museum Day and can last a day, a weekend or an entire week. IMD was celebrated for the first time 40 years ago. All around the world, more and more museums participate in International Museum Day. In past years, more than 37,000 museums participated in the event in about 158 countries and territories. June INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY
Each year on June 21st the world comes together to celebrate the heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Metis.
July 1st CANADA DAY
In partnership with the Town of Sundre, we are pleased to be the central space where visitors and locals can Celebrate Canada.
Traditionally we celebrate with a free formal flag raising and community hosted BBQ, a car show, farmer's market and other fun family activities, rounding the day off with fireworks and typically admission to our museum is by donation on this special day. Call ahead for specific details.
October 31st HAUNTED VILLAGE
Mr. Ryan Beck began the tradition of an indoor haunted house while teaching here at the Sundre High School. Working with the leadership club he and his students organized this annual event for years. When Mr. Beck was diagnosed with cancer all of the halloween materials he accumulated over the years were donated to us. In 2020 we hosted our first ever haunted village with the help of Donovan Beck. It was very successful and we hope to offer this spooky event again. December SUNDRE SNOW FEST
Traditionally we have successfully hosted photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus so follow us or call the museum to see what we have in store for this year's event.
Museum Time Capsule
Members of the 2018 Sundre and District Historical Society Board secured at the museum on Monday, June 10th a time capsule that is to remain sealed until 2068.
last year the society celebrated its 50th anniversary of service to preserving the community’s history for posterity, said Rose. In July of 2068, the blast from the past will be opened, unveiling a number of items of interest that were donated by Sundre residents, she said. Included among the capsule’s artifacts are a town map, some pieces from the museum, a loonie dated 2018, a telephone directory, a Sundre High School yearbook, a page from the Round Up featuring pictures of babies born in 2018, as well as some items from the family of the late Myron Thompson and a CD from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind that was contributed by local centenarian John Whitesell Sr. Additionally, Smarts Trophies will be contributing a plaque for the capsule, she said. The society’s chair, Bruce Temple, suggested to the board the idea of preparing the capsule to be opened on the museum’s milestone centennial celebration, and everybody was in favour, she said.
